Why it exists

Most of what a person says out loud is never written down. Most of what gets written down is never read in the voice it was meant to be heard in.

Kept Word was built so families do not have to choose between a transcript and a memory. You answer the questions you want to answer, record what you want to record, and write the letters you want them to open one day. Then the people you name can come back to you whenever they need to, in your real voice.

There is no rush, and there is no right way to do it. You can take a single afternoon, or you can take a year. The point is that the version of you that matters to the people who love you, stays.

It works the same way for an expectant parent documenting what they are hoping for, a parent whose child just moved away, an adult child trying to understand their parents better, and anyone facing the end of their life. The product does not care which season you are in. The people you love want to know you in all of them.

Your voice capture is never used to train an AI model, never sold, and never reused outside the Space you built. It only speaks to the people you name.
Your family pays nothing.
The people you share your Space with never make an account and never see a payment screen. Your Space was built for them, not for us.
No pressure to perform.
No streaks designed to guilt you. No fake urgency. You come back when you have something to say. The questions wait.

Kept Word is built by Human Underneath, a small studio that makes quiet tools for the parts of life that matter most. We are not a big tech company. There is no growth team here, no investor pushing for engagement metrics, no roadmap built around what makes you scroll.

We build for the kind of person who does not want to be sold to. The kind of person who wants their voice held carefully, their stories respected, and their family protected from anything that would treat their memory as data.

Who is Kept Word for?
Anyone who wants the people they love to be able to hear them later. Parents, grandparents, partners, anyone with a story worth keeping. You do not need to be a writer or a public speaker. You just need to want to be heard.
Will my voice or my stories ever be used to train AI?
No. Your voice is never used to train any AI model. Your stories are never used to train any AI model. Nothing you record is sold or shared outside the Space you built.
How is Kept Word different from a memoir or storytelling service?
Most memory products produce a book or an archive that sits on a shelf. Kept Word produces a presence. The people you love can ask questions and hear your answers in your own voice, drawn from things you actually said.
Do my family members have to pay or create an account?
No. The people you share your Space with never create an account and never pay anything. They open a link and can listen to you, read your letters, and talk to you in your voice right away.
What is the Continuity System?
The Continuity System is the family of applications built by Human Underneath. Kept Word holds your voice and your stories. My Daily Place holds your everyday journal. They share the same quiet philosophy.
